This is a finished example. It shows Template 3 completed for a fictional film, The Long Dark, at the end of its first year in release. This copy is the personalised version sent to Harbour Capital, so Part B, Section 5 shows only Harbour Capital's row. The figures carry on from the Q3 2028 Quarterly Distribution Statement example. All names and figures are illustrative.

Re: The Long Dark - 2028 Year-End Investor Letter

Dear Margaret,

<aside> ✏️

The Long Dark spent 2028 doing what we made it to do: finding an audience, in cinemas in Australia, on screens in North America, and in festival halls that we once only hoped to stand in. A year ago it was a finished film waiting for its release dates. Today it is on release in five territories, has sold France, and has paid money back to its investors in every quarter of the year.

<aside> ✏️

In plain terms: the film earned $485,000 in gross receipts in 2028, and Harbour Capital received $100,880 of it, taking you to 42.6% of your $300,000 entitlement. That is behind the projection we shared at closing, mainly because the German distributor paid late and Japan withheld more tax than the treaty allows. Both problems were resolved before Christmas, and the French sale closed at AFM, so we end the year closer to plan than we were in October.

The moment I will remember is the second Sydney Film Festival screening. The Q&A was meant to run for fifteen minutes; it ran for forty, and the last question came from a farmer who had driven four hours to see it and wanted to know how we shot the storm. That is the audience this film was made for.

In 2029 the focus moves to the territories still open. Northlight Sales takes Scandinavia and Latin America to the European Film Market in Berlin on 12 February, and the balance of the French minimum guarantee is due on delivery in March. We now expect investors to pass 50% recoupment in the third quarter of 2029. The next distribution to investors is on 20 February 2029.

Thank you, Margaret, for the introduction to Les Films du Quai in October. It was their call to Northlight that brought the second French buyer back to the table, and it is a large part of why France closed when it did. I hope to see you at the Australian release of our next film; I will write when we have dates.
